COVID PROTOCOLS TO ATTEND SEX ON THE RIVER as of 3/21/2022

It has been over two years since COVID-19 changed our lives. We here at triangle like every business we know has tried to adapt with every twist and turn. We are proud of our track record of ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and remains healthy while you are within our walls. Patron and staff safety are No. 1 here at triangle productions!

With the ever-changing tide of ‘should we – should we not’, we still believe in always using best practices.

Many have inquired on what triangle’s COVID protocols are. And, after attending a show, many of you have thanked us for our diligence on how we handle patrons and staff here.

For the musical coming up, The Nancy Boggs Story: Sex on the River we’re implementing the following protocols.

1)      First, think of our theatre if you will, as an airplane. It’s an intimate space and it seats 154 people. Ask that for a bit longer to wear masks. You will see staff wearing masks and all volunteers as well.

2)      We will continue to ask for your vaccination card. Why? This is one more ‘protection’ device for us. Knowing you have taken precautions helps us ensure the safety of all. Your vaccination card can either be in hard copy form or on your phone. We will not seat you without it!

3)      We will continue to have reduced time in the lobby. DOORS will remain LOCKED until 30 minutes before the performance. Thursday/Friday/Saturday performances: Front and back doors will remain closed until 7:00 pm  Sunday matinee, until 1:30 pm.

4)      You will no more be required to have a temperature check! Your mask and your vaccination card should be good enough

5)      We are opening up seating. With you wearing a mask, limited time in the space, all doors to the venue open for airflow and you have been vaccinated we feel that as many precautions have been taken and therefore, we will reopen our seating up – not to capacity – but to near capacity.

6)      We have found that many are agreeable to not printing tickets. So, for now, we will ask you not to print your tickets and that you check in with our box office person in the lobby, then you’ll be directed to your seat.

7)      We will stop baggies with your name on your seat.

8)      We will continue for now to not have printed programs. Trying to keep you safe with less handling of paper AND saving a tree or two is the best practice right?  or we will provide a QR Code and a Wi-Fi connection.

9)      Concessions will be available 30 minutes before the show – you can take the concessions into the theatre.

10)   RESTROOMS: Will only be open for 30 minutes. They will NOT be open during the show.

THE STORY: Portland, Oregon 1880

There were no bridges to cross the Willamette River.

Not many opportunities for women to own or run a business except a bar, hotel, or a brothel.

Meet Nancy Boggs.

Divorced mother without many prospects.

With few dollars left she decides to purchase a scow, today it would be equivalent to a medium-sized barge. Having a lower deck, she then had a two-story building built on its deck which would contain a saloon/dance hall and the top floor, rooms.

It is believed that Nancy was the first to have a floating bordello - at least west of the Mississippi River.

She knew her business, but there was one slight problem - she kept two sets of books - one for the authorities to see, the other was the true amount taken in and paid. Why? Nancy's scow went between three cities Portland, East Portland, and Albina and each wanted a piece of the liquor revenues - Nancy was not going to share any more that she felt was justified.

Sex on the River - a musical based on a true story - with nine original songs and of course the Can-Can!
